Angst Skvadron: Sweet poison

I’ve got a stomach full of angst and a head full of hate. If you tell your shrink likewise, he/she/it might suggest you to “suffer” from agitated depression, which is exactly when lashing out a deathpunch fits into the equation. Come from below, aim at the nose, and the deal should be sealed. Who needs a tarted up drug-dealer asking lots of stupid questions anyway? I certainly don’t, fuck it all, this intro is over already.
“Valium holocaust”, “Dolcontine blues”, “Rivotril matja”, and already we know what type of sweet poison Mr. Nefas had in mind when naming this platter soon to be reviewed. A one-man-band Angst Skvadron ain’t, here is even a women onboard, but the core of this mental-disease is for certain the guy I just mentioned. Does it matter? Do you care? Most likely not, so I’ll get to the actual music already.
Spaced-out black metal, on pills, is Angst Skvadron put short. Mix in a tad of doom and all of a sudden we are talking a proper fucking description. Almost, so for you to get the whole picture I need to write some more. Piano, Minimoog, ARP Axxe, Korg Polysix, Clavinet D6, Mellotron, are all, apart from the first mentioned, unusual instruments for my ears to hear. The pair of mine are therefore unable to discern what instrument is which, apart from the piano obviously, but regardless of my shortcomings these here hippie instruments adds a lot to the equation.
“Sweet poison” sports dense atmosphere, also a unique character, and in addition it sounds quite alright. Yet, my mental-erection remains not full blown at all. Could it be that it needs of more than 5-6 spins, and some hefty pills, to reveal its full glory? Fuck if I know. What I do know, however, is that “Flukt” remains a more fucked up and exciting album to me. Even so, “Sweet poison” is something else in the myriad of blandness also known as music.
If black metal with a quite severe twist sounds tempting, steal and check out both their albums. And also an EP they just released.
